Bio:

Jacob Monroe was born Feb. 16, 1973 to Lonnie and Gwen Monroe. Lonnie is owner and bartender at a Brooklyn corner watering hole which is below the family’s apartment. Gwen helped out as a cocktail waitress. When Jacob was 10, he was doing homework in the bar when a gunman robbed the till. Gwen tried to move towards Jacob, the gunman panicked, and shot her. Lonnie pulled his shotgun from under the bar and shot the gunman. The gunman died instantly and Gwen died before paramedics arrived.

Jacob had to help more at the bar and had little time for a social life. After completing school, he went straight into the academy for NYPD. He was assigned to Brooklyn. His ability to navigate the streets proved valuable to the US Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force. He was recruited into US Marshals. He was quickly placed in the Fugitive Task Force, earning the enmity of the senior officers who were passed over. Eventually he was transferred to the Chicago office to break up the office conflicts. Losing the home field put him at a disadvantage. The local agents assumed he was transferred for disciplinary reasons, so he never gelled with the team.

Jacob was tracking down a fugitive with nearly no records. He tracked down a possible hideout was just going to confirm the suspect’s presence when the suspect attacked. The DTRA was staging to take the vampire down, but were not setup. They had to swoop in bail Jacob out on the fly.

Since Jacob learned too much and he is “permanently on loan” to DTRA. Having a Federal Marshal on the team provides a level anonymity to team operations. Not having to explain credentials is invaluable, and the Marshal’s broad powers of investigation and asset seizure is gravy.
