In 1920, D.G. Nelson first opened the store that still actively purveys the finest in esoteric texts and supplies. The first storefront was at 611 N. State St, and was frequented by many of the personalities of the world’s Occult History. The store moved again to 645 N. State Street a number of years later. Later the bookstore moved to 3230 N. Clark St, and then in 1992 moved to the Flat Iron building in Wicker Park, into the space now occupied by the Earwax Cafe.

Now 87 years since first opening, The Occult Bookstore embarks upon its newest endeavour, with a new storefront at 1164 N. Milwaukee Avenue, just south of Ashland and Division in Chicago, and our soon to be launched online store, we are at your disposal to provide you with all of your magickal needs.
